The Missouri Day Festival Committee is very excited about our celebration planned for October 16th - 17th, 2010 in Trenton, Missouri. After 25 years of hosting this highly successful event, we are certain that attendees and vendors will find this event worth attending. Our crowd for 2009 was comprised of great vendors and the attendance was outstanding, with over 40 bands participating.

Opening ceremonies will be held on Thursday, October 14th. A dinner is planned that evening. In addition, we will hold the annual parade and band day on Saturday, October 16th. The craft village and flea markets will be open both Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th. We will have a huge band festival, great food, musical entertainment throughout the weekend, baby show, coloring contest, and a host of other fun events. Missouri Day T-Shirts PRE-ORDER

The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Missouri Day 25th Anniversary Commemorative T-Shirts. Help celebrate 25 years of this wonderful festival here in Trenton by purchasing this special t-shirt.

T-shirts are available by pre-order only. The deadline is October 1st. Please stop by the Chamber to purchase your t-shirt. The shirts will be ready to pick up at Kinnison Embroidery the week of Missouri Day. The t-shirts will be grey and will feature a design created by Jennifer Farmer of Trenton. Prices are $13 for S-XL and $15 for XXL and above.

Baby Show

The Grundy County United Way will be hosting the Baby Show again this year as part of the Missouri Day Festival activities on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Grundy County Senior Center. Registration will begin at 12:30 pm with judging to begin at 1:00 pm. Categories for both girls and boys will be ages 0-3 months, 4-7 months, 8-12 months, 13-24 months and 25-36 months. First place winners will receive a trophy and $50 savings bond provided by Farmer’s Bank of Northern Missouri. All registrants will receive a participation ribbon. There will be a $5.00 entry fee. Coloring & Drawing Contest

The Missouri Day Festival coloring and drawing contest will soon be underway. Area schools will be receiving packets containing coloring pages symbolizing this year’s theme: Missouri Day 25th Anniversary - A Festival Full of Tradition: 1984 – 2009. The schools include: Grundy R-V, Laredo R-VII, Pleasant View R-VI, Spickard R-II, Trenton R-IX, Head Start and Sonshine Day Center. Participants need to be in Preschool through sixth grade. Grades 4 – 6 will do a colored drawing which depicts the theme. Home school students are welcome to compete and can obtain information by contacting Jeanie Whitney at (660) 359-3622. Coloring pages must be returned to the Chamber office by 4:00 pm, Friday, October 9th.

Monetary prizes will be awarded in each age division with $10 for first place, $5 for second, and $3 for third. Winners will be announced at the opening ceremonies October 15th at the First Baptist Church starting at 7:00 pm. For more information, you may contact Jeanie Whitney at (660) 359-3622.

Quilt Show

The Missouri Day Quilt Show will be sponsored by the Scrappy Quilter's Guild of Trenton, Mo. The show will be held at the Ketcham Community Center on October 17th from 11-4 & October 18th from 10-2.

This year’s show will have a judged competition and a non-judged competition. To enter the judged competition there will be a $5 fee per quilt to enter. Cash prizes will be awarded in the judged competition. To enter the non-judged competition there will be no fee and prizes to be awarded will be gift bags. The non-judged competition winners will be chosen by public voting. Viewer's will also have a chance to vote on a "Viewer's Choice" award selected from all quilts entered in the show. Window Decorating Contest

The 25th Annual Missouri Day Festival will include a Window & Entryway Decorating Contest. Businesses and organizations are encourages to show their version of this year’s theme which is Missouri Day 25th Anniversary – A Festival Full of Tradition 1984-2009. Prize money will be awarded in both the business and organization categories; first place: $75, second place: $50, and third place: $25. Citizen’s Bank & Trust is sponsoring the contest.

To enter the contest, please contact Marlisa Klinginsmith at 660-359-2274. The deadline for entries is October 12th. Business owners are encouraged to decorate or give an organization the opportunity to have a display in their business. This year winners will be selected by the people attending the Soup Supper & Opening Ceremonies. Photos of the entries will be displayed and people can vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced at the Opening Ceremonies, October 15th at the First Baptist Church.

Scarecrow Contest

Mark your calendars for the Scarecrow Contest which will take place in the FFA Cook Shack Area. Winners will be announced on Saturday, October 17th and will be posted at information booth by noon. Set up time: October 16th, 12:00 – 6:00 P.M. Hay bales will be set up and you will need to bring your own set up posts with areas being first come, first served. Fill out a card located in set up area and leave with your scarecrow for committee to pick up.

Half the Pot

The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a new addition to the annual Missouri Day Festival. This year there will be a “Half the Pot” Contest. Individuals may purchase entries at the Missouri Day Festival, and starting September 8th, entries will also be available at both the Trenton Chamber of Commerce and at Trenton Hy-Vee. This new contest, which is sponsored by Trenton Hy-Vee, is a money drawing where entries are priced at 1 for $2 or 3 for $5.

The contest will run from September 8th and will conclude at the end of Missouri Day 2009. The winner will win HALF of the money from all of the entries and the other half will go to help pay expenses for this year’s festival. A second place will also be drawn from the entries and will receive a $100 gift card to Trenton Hy-Vee. Winners will be announced in the Courtyard during Missouri Day at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 18th.

Yard Decorating Contest

The Missouri Day Festival is again sponsoring a yard-decorating contest. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to show off their talent for outdoor fall decorating by entering the yard decorating contest. Prizes of $75, $50, and $25 will be awarded in each category.

To enter, please contact Jill Eaton at 359-2013 (Trenton City Hall). Deadline to enter is October 10th. Photos will be taken of all the contestants' festive displays on October 13th. The photos will then be put on exhibit and voted on by the attendees of the opening dinner and opening ceremonies. Winners will be announced later that evening at the opening ceremoniy on October 15th. The opening dinner and ceremony will be held at the First Baptist Church.

Skateboarding Competition

The Missouri Day Festival is proud to announce a Skateboarding Completion that will take place on Sunday, October 18th during this year’s festival. The completion is sponsored by Switch Skateboarding in Trenton and will take place at 2:30pm at the Switch Skateboarding indoor facility located at 614 Harris Avenue in Trenton.

Trophies will be given out to the top 2 finishers in each category. The competition is free to enter; however, skaters are encouraged to pre-register. For more information and to register for the event, you may contact Robert Williams at (660) 359-6312 or stop by Switch Skateboarding.

Vendor Information

Missouri Day is held the third weekend in October. This year the dates are October 16th - 17th. If you would like to participate as a vendor please fill out an application and send it along with payment to the Chamber Office.
