Trenton Chamber Members... Your eyes are often the best windows to your health. By looking into your eyes, your optometrist can tell a lot about your general health. For example, some systemic and chronic diseases, especially diabetes, can often be detected by an optometrist during a comprehensive eye exam. Premier EyeCare Associates has invested extensively in modern optometric instrumentation including the GDX nerve fiber analyzer for the detection of glaucoma, EPIC corneal topographer and auto-refractor, Kowa fundus camera, Optos retinal screener, and the eye web virtual frame fitting system. The practice has the largest collection of frames to choose from in North Missouri in their state-of-the-art facilities. By partnering with Dr. Andy Moyes of St. Luke’s North, they serve thousands of patients providing seamless cataract surgery in our local towns and hospitals including Wright Memorial in Trenton. Being involved in the communities that they serve is very important to the partners in Premier EyeCare Associates. Dr. Thompson and Dr. Brodmerkle did free eye screenings at the Pershing Memorial Hospital Health Fair in May. Dr. Sloan is scheduled to give free eye screenings for children on July 28 as a participant in the Mercer County Health Fair. They will hold Premier EyeCare Associates Kids Safety Event on Saturday, July 16th at 115 N. Washington in Chillicothe at their new office across from Hy-Vee. During this time, kids can register on the National Amber Alert System, learn about fire safety from firefighters, learn water safety by YMCA representatives, and schedule children ages 3-6 for free vision screenings to be held the week of July 18th. The American Optometric Association recommends children receive comprehensive eye exams at six months of age, at 3 years, before entering school, then every 2-3 years after. Premier EyeCare Associates participated in the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo that was held on April 23. PECA (Premier EyeCare Associates) also sponsored a $350 scholarship which was awarded to Brittany Swank of Trenton in May, 2005. They will have a LASIK seminar in September hosted by Dr. Moyes, an ophthalmologist associated with Premier EyeCare Associates, who performs cataract and LASIK surgeries. The practice is North Missouri’s only multi-city, locally owned and operated
group of eye care providers with over 59 years of clinical experience. The optometrists
