Driver Licensing Procedures

As of today, February 28th, the driver licensing procedures in the Trenton License Office have changed slightly to meet the new requirements of the Department of Revenue. When you come in to get a new permit, license or ID and/or renew your permit, license or ID, you will, once again, need to bring your state certified birth certificate OR passport, proof of residence (utility bill, voter registration card, bank statement, etc.) and proof of name change if your name differs from what’s on your birth certificate (marriage license or social security card with new name; however, if the name on a presented passport matches the name on the driver license, this verification is not required). These verification documents must be scanned. You will receive a temporary license when your transaction is complete and your permanent license will be mailed to you. Should you not receive your license within three (3) weeks, you will need to contact our office immediately. Once your temporary license expires and you have no permanent license, you will have to pay for the license again.

Please be kind to the license office staff, as they do not make the rules, but do have to follow them. For more information, you can visit www.dor.mo.gov.
